Description	Antigens are called biopolymers or their synthetic analogues, capable of causing an immune response in the body or culture of lymphoid cells: the production of antibodies, the appearance of effector cells of thymic origin, the formation of immunological memory. Antibodies or cells appearing during the immune response, specifically interact with an antigen or chemicals of a similar structure. The latter may not have the property of eliciting an immune response. Such substances are called haptens. Under certain conditions, antigens can cause a state of specific irresponsibility — immunological tolerance. Antigens are, as a rule, substances alien to the recipient, to which proteins, polysaccharides, nucleic acids and their complexes belong. Changing by means of chemical modification of natural biopolymers, it is possible to obtain so-called conjugated antigens. Conjugated antigens can be obtained on the basis of proteins belonging to the recipient itself. Autologous proteins, denatured by physical or chemical methods, also acquire antigenic properties
